Wavo Support

Last updated: 31 July 2026

Wavo is a small independent project, not a company with a call centre. One person reads this inbox, so answers usually come within a couple of days. Most of what people ask is below — if yours isn't, email us.

Tell us your username and what you were doing when it went wrong. If you're emailing about a specific message or person, say which — we can't see your chats from the outside.

Account

I can't sign in

Sign in with the email address and password you signed up with — not your username. If the password is wrong, check the account isn't one of the other accounts saved on your device: tap your avatar → Settings → Account → Saved accounts to see which ones are stored there.

I forgot my password

There's no self-serve reset in the app yet. Email contact@builtbyjake.site from the address on the account and we'll sort it out.

Can I change my username?

Yes — Settings → Profile. Usernames are unique, so if the one you want is taken you'll be told when you try to save it.

Deleting my account

Settings → Account → Danger zone → Delete account. This erases your profile, messages, friends and groups, and it can't be undone. If you want your data gone but can't get into the account to do it, email us.

Safety

Blocking someone

Open the chat with them, then the menu in the top corner → Block. They can't message you after that. Everyone you've blocked is listed under Settings → Account → Blocked, with an Unblock button next to each.

Reporting a message or a person

Hold or tap the menu on a message → Report, or open someone's profile → Report. Add a reason if you can — it goes to an admin to review. Blocking and reporting are separate: reporting doesn't stop them messaging you, so do both if you need to.

Something serious

If someone is in danger, contact your local emergency services first. Then email us with the usernames involved so we can act on the account.

Parents and guardians

Wavo is used by young people. If you'd like a child's account or data reviewed or deleted, email contact@builtbyjake.site and we'll help — you don't need the password to ask. What we collect and how long we keep it is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Notifications

Notifications need permission from your browser or phone, and Wavo asks once. If you said no, the app can't ask again — turn Wavo's notifications back on in your browser's site settings or your phone's Settings → Notifications, then reload Wavo.

On iPhone, web notifications only work if you've added Wavo to your Home Screen and open it from there.

Streaks, themes and badges

Streaks count days you and a friend both send something. Days roll over at midnight in your own timezone, so a streak you kept won't disappear because of where you are.

Themes and badges are unlocked by using the app — Settings → Appearance shows what you have and what's still locked. If something you earned isn't showing, reload first; if it's still missing, email us with your username.

Premium

Where do I buy it?

On the Wavo website, not in the app. Payment goes through Stripe — card details go to them, never to us. Ask a parent before you subscribe.

I paid and nothing changed

Reload the app first; the badge and name colour arrive with your profile. If it's still not there after a minute, email us with the email address you paid with and we'll fix it manually.

Cancelling or a refund

Email contact@builtbyjake.site and we'll cancel it — there's no self-serve billing page yet. Say so and we'll refund a subscription you didn't mean to start.

Bugs

Tell us what you tapped, what you expected, and what happened instead. Your device and browser help ("iPhone, Safari"), and a screenshot helps more. Bugs that lose messages or let someone see something they shouldn't get looked at the same day.
